At Home in Akumal got its start thanks to our home rental business in Cozumel. You see, Cozumel is where we began and where we manage homes. Back then, Cancun was still mostly a sandbar and Cozumel was the big city. As for Akumal, it was just a string of bays with a few homes and small hotels scattered here and there. (In fact, before the road was built, the only way to get to Akumal was via a ferry from Cozumel.) 20 years later Cancun is immense, Cozumel medium sized and Akumal is still a string of bays with a few more homes and hotels. But it's still a low rise, low key place. Somewhere along the way people began to find out about Akumal, and since it's on the mainland just opposite Cozumel, they began to ask us about vacation rental villas on Akumal. So we decided to see if there was anything there that measured up to our standards. At first there wasn't much, but nowadays there is a wide selection.

We have inspected all the homes we represent in Akumal with a critical and knowledgeable eye since we are in the same business on Cozumel. So we know what it takes to properly maintain a vacation rental villa. After lots of inspections we have selected those homes and only those homes that meet our standards.
